Columbus, Ohio, February 26, 2024 (Read Full Story)

There’s an allure to travel and to experiencing how other cultures live, work and play. But what happens when those experiences ― eating traditional dishes, enjoying local arts performances and visiting monuments ― take place in an active war zone?

For Claudia VanHuffel, an internship that took her to Ukraine opened her eyes to that unique juxtaposition ― cultural beauty amid the sound of air raid sirens and visits with injured soldiers.

JANZ: ‘WE HAVE THE MODEL BUILT’

Columbus, Ohio, February 2, 2024 (View Entire News Article)

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Its recent acquisition of Mullaney’s Medical Supply opens the door for JANZ Corp., a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business that has focused on serving military installations and veterans, to also serve people in their homes, says President Brian Healey...

...Once JANZ gets established in the commercial market, it plans to expand into Indiana, Michigan and beyond, says Healey, who hopes the company’s military background resonates with a larger audience.

“There’s a certain pride there,” he said. “We’re taking care of the nation’s best and getting them combat-ready. I have to think there’s a generation at Mullaney’s that are veterans and respect what the military has done. We hope that comes to pass as we grow our business.”

JANZ expands into consumer medical supply market through acquisition of Greater Cincinnati company

COLUMBUS, Ohio, January 10, 2024 (Full Press Release)

JANZ has purchased Mullaney’s Medical Supply, a locally owned and operated company that has served the Greater Cincinnati area since 1936. JANZ will assume ownership of Mullaney’s Medical Supply locations in Blue Ash, West Chester and White Oak, which together provide a wide range of medical equipment for purchase and rental, including oxygen concentrators, mobility aids, lift chairs, beds, mattresses, respiratory equipment, compression items and injury recovery equipment.

“Mullaney’s Medical Supply has a long history of providing exemplary service to Ohio residents,” said JANZ Chief Operating Officer Gordon Pry. “We are excited to continue this tradition and look forward to providing medical supply customers with the same high-quality service they have come to expect from Mullaney’s.”

A service-disabled veteran owned small business (SDVOSB), JANZ has previously focused on serving military installations and veterans. The new Ohio locations – which will be known as Mullaney’s, a JANZ Medical Supply Company – will join JANZ’s 34 existing medical supply stores located in 11 states, seven countries and two U.S. territories.

“As a local family business serving the Greater Cincinnati area for more than 88 years, we have a very personal connection to our community,” said Tom Mullaney, RPh, former owner of Mullaney’s Medical Supply and current president of Mullaney’s Long-Term Care Pharmacy. “When we decided to sell our medical supply division, it was clear that JANZ was the perfect partner as they share our commitment to customers and a reputation for exceptional service.

“As we turn our full attention to serving the needs of long-term care communities and their residents,” Mullaney continued, “we look forward to having a strong partnership with JANZ.”

The Mullaney’s Medical Supply acquisition represents a significant expansion of JANZ’s products and services, Pry said. By expanding into the consumer HME market, JANZ will add new products and services to its current inventory along with distribution and patient delivery capabilities.

“Adding this respected local company to the JANZ family will not only enhance our store offerings to our new patients in Ohio,” Pry said, “but also benefit our other locations through these additional products and services.”

JANZ’s expansion into the consumer market builds on the company’s exponential growth following the receipt of multimillion dollar contracts from several government agencies. In 2017, JANZ ranked #280 on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing U.S. companies.

What is a SDVOSB and how can a Partnership Benefit your Company?

January 1, 2023

A SDVOSB is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), meaning the company is owned by a person who served in the Active Military, Naval, or Air Service and whose disability was incurred or aggravated in the line of duty in the Active Military, Naval, or Air Service. SDVOSB businesses must also satisfy the Small Business Association’s (SBA) size standards and be approved through the VA’s Vets First Verification program (VetCert).

What is it Used for?

The U.S. Government hires Contracting Officers to work with contractors. Contracting Officers can make proposals, award, negotiate, change, operate, and end contracts for the U.S. Government.

Since the Government prefers to contract with small businesses whenever possible, contracting officials use set-asides and sole sourcing to help the Government agencies meet their small business contracting goals. Contractors are determined by the Small Business Association’s (SBA) size standards. Which usually requires a business to have a maximum number of employees or maximum revenue. Another important thing to note is that when contracts are worth at or below $250,000, they are automatically set aside for small businesses. This information can be found on SBA’s website.

The SDVOSB platform was implemented by The Department of Defense (DoD) as an outreach effort to identify these businesses and allow them to participate in sole source or set aside contracts. This certification allows businesses access to special asides and sole source contracts through the DoD and Veteran Affairs (VA).

Why work with an SDVOSB?

Since the U.S. Government is actively trying to do business with small businesses utilizing the SDVOSB set-aside opportunities, manufacturers with a SDVOSB distributor can utilize the relationship to compete for bids and other opportunities. Working with an SDVOSB with government contracts also gives businesses access to the Federal Marketplace and unique financial opportunities that are only available to SDVOSBs.
